Cholem Yesodoth is the Kabbalistic name of the Mundane Chakra of Malkuth, the outer, physical form of whatever holistic system conforms to the archetypal design of the Tree of Life. Its gematria number value is 168, Cholem having the number value 78 and Yesodoth having the number 90. Although the number value of the last letter tav (ת), which corresponds to the Greek letter tau, is 400, this is contracted to 4 in accordance with the rules of gematria. Because Kabbalists have been unaware of the scientific significance of the number value of Cholem Yesodoth vis-à-vis superstring theory, they have not realized the necessity of this further step. Indeed, although the last letter of Cholem is the final mem, whose gematria number is 600, it is the letter value 40 of mem (מ) that counts here, not the number 600. That is why the letter value of mem shown in the diagram opposite is 40, even though the final mem is present in the word Cholem. It can be argued (and the author does) that true gematria, that is, gematria that relates sacred words of mystical origin to cosmic (not merely human) reality, has neither need nor room for the gematria number values of the five finals, which are not independent letters but variants, appearing only when these five letters are at the ends of words. Being added merely for human convenience, the five finals have no connection to the physical and superphysical orders of reality to which sacred geometries refer. According to this view, what is truly sacred is just the original set of 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, not its amended set of 27 letters. It is born out by the fact that the Tree of Life has 22 corresponding Paths. Accordingly, the correct number value of Cholem Yesodoth is not 1124 but 168. Examples too numerous to mention from the research articles and elsewhere on this website confirm this convincingly by always indicating, whatever the context wherein it appears, that the number 168 splits up naturally into the number 78 of Cholem and the number 90 of Yesodoth. This cannot be coincidence — there are far, far too many instances of its geometrical counterpart for this possibility to be remotely plausible. Kabbalists have never realised that the gematria number values of the Hebrew letters are limited by the fact that the names of the Sephiroth in the four Worlds have a mathematical basis in terms of a Tree of Life with 22 Paths. This rigorous foundation provides no support for the five finals having values other than those attributed to them when they occur inside words — or at least there are no sacred-geometrical contexts that the author has ever discovered where the number generated by giving a final letter a larger value had a meaning. The Kabbalistic practice of giving different numbers to the finals is, therefore, fundamentally misconceived. What is merely a human contrivance based upon convenience, namely, making the final letters look slightly different in order to make reading of Hebrew easier, has no place in the cosmic scheme, where only the gematria number values of the 22 letters apply. God did not design the universe so as to suit the reading convenience of human beings! Therefore, number values of the five finals that humans choose to be different from the parent letters play no part in its mathematical description.
